When I initially spoke with Lynne, she told me she had lived in Hawaii years ago, and had always dreamed of a Maui wedding ceremony. Of course the venue would be important for her and her guests. Maui has many venues to choose from including beautiful beaches to elegant tropical estates. During the conversation she mentioned her close friends Debbie and Jeff were full time residents that live in Kula. When I suggested we have the ceremony at their home, Lynne contacted Debbie, and she was thrilled to host the wedding at their upcountry home. Kula is famous for it’s expansive flower farms, cooler weather, and 180 degree bi coastal views. When I met with Darrell and Lynne during the site inspection to discuss the perfect location for the vows, I knew this was going to be a special event. Lynne wanted tropical flowers, an elegant white table, and soft overhead lighting to create the perfect mood. Debbie created an amazing bouquet of fragrant tahitian gardenias and a pikake lei for Lynne, and a maile lei for Darrell to wear for the ceremony and lei exchange. All of the guests were treated to colorful Hawaiian tropical leis using local flowers picked that day. This backyard setting was perfect for an intimate ceremony at sunset with close friends and relatives of the bride and groom enjoying the cool Upcountry evening. The minister serenaded the couple as they walked down the aisle, and then blew the conch shell to begin the exchange of vows. After Lynne and Darrell shared the story of their love, rings were exchanged, and kisses were shared.
The guests were served signature appetizers of sushi and scallops and a gourmet meal inspired and created by the team of Private Maui Chef. The wedding table was decorated with elegant white tableware and freshly picked orchids and seashells. Toasts were made by all for the bride and groom, tears were shared, and another Maui wedding ceremony was in the books.
